Assessment sequence
- Define the asset, access pathway, event type, and evidence status.
- Identify direct parties and plausible indirect exposure without guessing counts.
- Assign GER and GPR only when the evidence supports a bounded interpretation.
- Assess provenance separately from confidentiality and consent.
- Record the source, confidence, uncertainty, and review date.
A short assessment you can write in plain language
Use one paragraph to name the asset and describe what happened or could happen. Use a second to explain who is directly involved and which wider relationships matter. In a third, state the evidence, the limits of the assessment, and the control or decision that follows.
Only then consider the proposed scales. If you cannot explain a classification without relying on unknown facts, leave it unassigned and record what evidence would resolve the uncertainty. The result can still be useful. An honest, bounded assessment gives the next reviewer a clear place to continue; a completed set of unsupported numbers does not.
