Possession of a sample does not settle authorization for every later analysis. Evaluate the collection context, the proposed use, and the interests of people who did not provide the sample.

Do not publish individual genotype files, private family relationships, or re-identification demonstrations involving nonconsenting people. Explain capabilities without claiming deterministic outcomes.
Community and resource interests
Consider community governance, cultural context, and stewardship obligations alongside individual permissions.
Explain a capability without creating another exposure
A teaching example can often use an invented sample record or a diagram instead of a real person's genetic information. The example should be clearly labeled, and it should preserve the feature being explained without reproducing unnecessary identifying details.
When real events are discussed, consider whether a detail helps establish the security principle or merely adds private information. Public availability alone is not a reason to repeat everything. The aim is to explain the evidence and its consequences while limiting avoidable disclosure about people who are not the subject of the analysis.
