Why it matters
Genomic operations can depend on instruments, sample records, analysis services, and archives working together. Losing one supporting system may interrupt work even when the underlying specimen remains safely stored.
A practical example
In a hypothetical incident, staff can reach the laboratory but cannot retrieve the records that connect stored samples to current work. Restoring files without restoring those associations would leave the operation only partly recovered.
An important distinction
