Review a request from beginning to end

Imagine a researcher requesting stored material for a new analysis. A useful review follows the request through purpose approval, specimen selection, transfer, and return or retention of resulting information. Each stage should preserve the connection to the authorized use.

The exercise can reveal gaps that are invisible in a storage inventory. Staff might know where a tube is but not which secondary uses are permitted. Or they might know the permitted purpose but lack a reliable transfer history. Both questions matter to responsible stewardship.
